Spring of 2016, a previous client reached out to us about doing a custom structural lighting piece for his new home. The idea was to create folded metal shelves with integrated addressable LED lighting that could be controlled with a wall panel or his phone.
After the area of his home was measured and recreated in a 3D CAD model, a layout of shelves was mapped that properly filled the space and fit his budget. The shelves were custom laser cut and folded sheet steel, powder coated black. LED bars were then fabricated in our shop and bonded to the shelves to create a clean, fastenerless, appearance.
The LED programming was handled by Photonic Bliss, who created a series of preset looks to be cycled through as well as a custom TouchOSC interface allowing the client to create new looks on the fly.
